French Polynesia commonly called "Tahiti and her Islands" is the name for 118 islands scattered across a million square miles of the Pacific Ocean - an area as large as Western Europe. There are five main island groups - the Society Islands, the Tuamotu Archipelago, the Marquesas, the Australs and the Gambier Archipelago. Tahiti is the main port of call, and is located in the Society Islands.
