SPECIAL ENCOUNTERS
These encounters are adapted to any divers / snorkelers, adults & children for an unmatched experience.
Our team ensures that the warm and clear waters of French Polynesia suit
anyone in search for adventure.
Between July and November each year, these giants travel about 4,000km from the Antarctic to the warm tropical waters of The Islands of Tahiti to mate and give birth. They are best seen from mid-August through late October.
French Polynesia has been a sanctuary for whales and dolphins since 2002.
Our experience dates back from the early 2000s working on scientific projects with marine biologists specialized in marine mammals. Holding a government permit, our guests encounter and join the whales in the water when conditions allow for a once in a lifetime experience the Pacific Ocean.
French Polynesia was the first country worldwide to protect its shark species in 2007.
Further to a strong government commitment for conservation and a well-balanced eco-system, up to 12 different species of sharks have been
recorded. The area is second to none for year-round pelagic encounters
especially around the Tuamotu atolls and Society Islands.
Meet pods of grey reef sharks, lemon sharks, tiger sharks, stingrays playing with black tip sharks and maybe hammerhead sharks…
During the full moon of June or July, thousands of marbled groupers aggregate in the natural shallow and narrow south pass of UNESCO biosphere Fakarava atoll.
Patience and observation are required before action happens. However, this
intense but short spectacle also attracts hundreds of grey reef sharks while groupers are mating. This natural frenzy is a unique phenomenon worldwide and should definitely be on the itinerary of any diver and underwater
photographer when cruising the area at that time of the year.
Rebreather diving will be a plus for anyone interested this special moment.
Out of the 118 islands of French Polynesia, opportunities for off the beaten track exploration are huge. Cruise around uninhabited islands, further afield for even more exciting underwater and land adventures. Our part of the world is among the safest in the world with unlimited cruising opportunities.
