A first in the Marquesas for science research thanks to collaboration 😊
During a recent trip, receivers were set up in strategic areas of the Marquesas to help identify any shark tagged in French Polynesia or elsewhere in the Pacific swimming the archipelago. It is believed that pelagic life, including large migratory sharks, travels around these islands but no step had ever been taken to attempt to confirm it. We hope this brings some essential data in the near future.
Within the frame of ongoing “Operation Swimway” led by @yachtaidglobal and Tahiti Private Expeditions in French Polynesia, this could happen thanks to the contribution and involvement of local scientists from the CRIOBE, dedicated yacht owner and crew and local yacht agent.
Thank you to all involved in helping putting this project together in a remote part of French Polynesia to the benefit of conservation.
